Ski deals & discounts 2016

I Ski NY's Discover NY Skiing day on January 28 is 2016's #1 ski deal.

The Saratoga Skier and Hiker, first-hand accounts of adventures in the Adirondacks and beyond, and Gore Mountain ski blog.Skiing can be an expensive sport, but if you know how to take advantage of the many deals and discounts that are available you can easily ski or ride all winter without buying a single full-price lift ticket. Now that the snow and cold have finally arrived (fingers crossed!) here are the top deals & discounts for 2016 to help you hit the slopes on the cheap:

#11 - Kids Ski Free Week at Gore: Saturday through Friday, March 19 – 25. All children ages 19 and under ski or ride FREE with full-paying parent all week!

#10 - I Ski NY’s Free For Kids passport program allows 3rd and 4th graders to ski or ride for free up to 3 times at each participating New York ski area (just about every ski area in NY). There is a $26 processing fee, and you must fill out an application with proof of the child’s age. Free For Kids passports are available to non-New York residents as well, including Canadians. Vermont has a similar program for 5th graders, more information is available here.

#9 - Ski and Ride Free 2-for-1 lift tickets – Fill up three times (8 gallons or more) at participating gas stations for a 2-for-1 lift ticket discount at participating ski mountains, including Gore, West Mountain, Willard Mountain, Whiteface, Bromley, Jay, Mad River Glen and many others. Restrictions vary at each participating ski area, but in general the 2-for-1 discounts are available Sunday through Friday, non-holiday.

#8 - Coca-Cola Why Not Wednesdays at Gore and Whiteface: Lift tickets are $48 when you bring any unopened Coca-Cola product on non-holiday Wednesdays all season long.

#7 - Bromley: On Family Fridays every full paying adult can purchase up to three teen/junior tickets for $20 each with the purchase of an all day lift ticket, and on 2-fer Tuesdays you get a second lift ticket for free when you buy one all day, full price ticket. There’s also Mom's Day Off on Friday, February 5 where moms can ski or ride all day for a $20 donation to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center, and $17 lift tickets if you wear green on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17.

#6 - Mt Snow: On January 10, kids 18 and under pay their age for a lift ticket. On February 12, two people ski for $59 if you buy in advance online. Saint Patrick’s Day lift tickets (March 17) are $17 when you buy online in advance.

#5 - $20 lift tickets are back by popular demand at West Mountain in Queensbury. 4-hour lift tickets are available Monday and Tuesday nights from 4pm-9pm for only $20.

#4 - Willard Mountain in Easton has $20 lift tickets on non-holiday Tuesday nights, and 2-for-$30 lift tickets every non-holiday Thursday: bring a friend and you each ski from 4pm to 9pm for just $15!

#3 - Mad River Glen: Rollback the Clock Day on January 26. Ski for $3.50. Wear green on Saint Patrack’s Day(March 17) and ski for $17. Act like a fool in the ticket booth and you ski 2 for 1 on April Fool's Day.

#2 - McCauley Crazy Fridays - $12 Lift Tickets every non-holiday Friday this winter at McCauley Mountain in Old Forge, NY.

#1 - Discover NY Skiing is 2016’s #1 deal: Deeply discounted lift tickets will be available for Thursday, January 28 at more than two dozen participating New York ski areas, including Gore and Whiteface ($24), West and Willard ($12). Tickets are limited and vary in quantity for each participating ski area. As of today, tickets are available for all mountains.
