On Wednesday night, February 1 at 7pm, the Alpine Sport Shop will host a presentation by local author and founder of the New England Lost Ski Areas Project, Jeremy Davis. Davis will talk about his past books and give a sneak peak of his third book, “Lost Ski Areas of the Southern Adirondacks,” due to be published in August.

I spoke with Davis earlier this week about the new book. “The book will cover the southern Adirondacks and foothills, basically south of Blue Mountain Lake, east and west. There are about 30 lost areas in this region. They range from tiny Blister Hill in Warrensburg to larger areas like Silver Bells in Wells. Pioneer ski areas, like Cobble Mountain in Lake George, helped shape skiing in New York State, with Cobble boasting the longest ski lift in the state from 1937-1941.”

Bring your photos and memories to share. Last year’s presentation was standing room only! The Alpine Sport Shop is located on Clinton Street in Saratoga Springs. Directions can be found on their website or by calling the shop at (518) 584-6290.

  1. This should be a very interesting presentation, I went to last year's talk and it was excellent.
