Gore Mountain: 02/22/10

Six of us were greeted by windless, bluebird skies and an almost empty lodge at Gore Monday morning. Beth, Daniel and me, plus my brother David, sister Allison, and niece Liz had a soft, almost springlike, day on the hill.



Temperatures that quickly warmed into the 30s combined with light skier traffic to produce absolutely deluxe conditions: packed powder and corduroy that quickly softened almost to corn beneath the strong February sun.



It was a really nice day out, but my mind kept drifting off to Jason The Weather Guy's call for the season's first megastorm. It's been an unusually light season for snowfall so far, but it looks like things are about to get interesting. Two short video clips from the day follow:
